The historic city of Florence (Firenze) is located in Tuscany in central Italy. It is the capital of the Florence region and is considered one of Italy's most important cultural heritage cities.

It is particularly famous for its Renaissance architecture and artistic heritage - such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Michelangelo's sculptural masterpiece David and the Uffizi Gallery, which contains some of the world's most important works of art.

Florence is also famous for its gastronomy and the Tuscan Chianti wine.

If you want to see the city from above, perhaps the best view is from Piazzale Michelangelo, an elevated square in the Oltrarno district. In addition to the breathtaking view of the historic city center, you can also admire replicas of the works of the famous native Michelangelo here. You can take bus no. 12 or 13 up to the square and take a pleasant walk back – you will be at the Arno river within 15 minutes.

When you go to Florence by car, watch out for the entrance to the historic center. Your car must report the hotel to the system before each entry, otherwise you will pay a hefty fine. For those who come to Florence by car - on this page you will find accommodation with parking.
